E3H, responsible boating

Innovation, boating, ecology: three words that perfectly express E3H’s philosophy.

E3H was founded by Tanguy Le Bihan, a naval architect from Brest. While attending the Paris Boat Show in 2007, he noted that among all the boats presented to the public there was not a single electric motor. A surprising absence, in view of the huge debate over the environmental impact of modes of transport. Convinced that boating, like the automobile, would soon be looking for electric-motor solutions, Tanguy Le Bihan established E3H, together with partners representing multiple skill sets: customised design, naval construction, navigational software development…. From the moment it was founded, E3H has been sailing at full speed towards a clearly defined objective: making electric boating popular with all seafarers.

Save energy while respecting the environment and rediscovering the joys of boating: what pleasure boater wouldn’t be in favour of that ambition?

With E3H, electric boating quickly took wing. In 2008 E3H created Odonata, a five-seat boat that adds a new, clean and quiet dimension to boating. With its convictions buoyed by the success of this project, E3H then continued to pioneer responsible boating. In 2009, E3H introduced Remora, a service boat for marinas, launched in cooperation with the French Federation of Pleasure-Boat Harbours. Demonstrating that electric engines were already a force to be reckoned with, the Brest company turned its attention to boating centres in 2010, setting up Costo, the “boatswain of responsible boating.” Meeting the joint requisites of Boating in Brittany, Boating in Finistère and the French Sailing Federation, Costo is dedicated to encouraging boating activities: an excellent way to make young boaters aware of the importance of electric boating for protecting the sea and its wonders.

For E3H, the future of boating will be responsible, respectful and eco-friendly. But we at E3H are also convinced that boating, backed by innovation, will be increasingly fun and accessible. That is why we work every day with the enthusiasm of our convictions.
